Since ASME (American Society of Mechanical Engineers) first premiered their Communities of Practice (CoP) in July 2004, it has already grown to 116 communities with over 1,600 members. Designed and built by Fusion Productions, it continues to thrive as a robust member-driven CoP with communities ranging from technical interests to section activity.
“We’re delighted that the concept of online communities seem to have caught on so quickly with our customers. We hope that the CoP will continue to grow even more over the coming months,” said Maureen Mandel, Director of Member Services, ASME.
Since launching their first online communities site for the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA) in 2000, Fusion has become a leader in helping their association clients build and sustain rich, dynamic community experiences. Fusion’s easily implemented out-of-the-box solution provides associations the ability to create communities quickly and affordably. Designed using industry standard software, the platform’s modular design offers an array of tools to organize and customize member experiences whether offering controlled community growth linked to special interest groups or member-centric self-generated community development.
“The reaction to our community product continues to be outstanding,” says Don Dea, Fusion’s Co-Founder and member of the ASAE Board of Directors. “Executives prefer a community solution that has the scalability, adaptability, cost effectiveness and potential for integration that our platform possesses.“
Last month Fusion announced their relationship with the American Productivity & Quality Center (APQC), which will bring new ways of building and sustaining online communities for trade associations and professional societies. Fusion Productions and APQC have combined their experience and expertise to help associations build an online communities business case, design how a community should be managed, train leaders and staff on how to run them, develop metrics for measuring return on investment (ROI), and deploy the most popular, powerful, easy to use association community software on the market today.
Fusion Productions is a full-service production company that creates customized member experiences whether on stage or on a desktop through the integration of meetings, learning and technology. Fusion is well known to the association community for their ground-breaking technology research, consulting and seminars. Founded in 1880 as the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, today's ASME is a 120,000-member professional organization focused on technical, educational and research issues of the engineering and technology community. ASME conducts one of the world's largest technical publishing operations, holds numerous technical conferences worldwide, and offers hundreds of professional development courses each year. ASME sets internationally recognized industrial and manufacturing codes and standards that enhance public safety. To view ASME’s Communities of Practice go to https://cop.asme.org/COP. |
