The Arthritis Foundation chooses Fusion Productions to develop the Foundation’s new hire online orientation program.
The Foundation was faced with the challenge of orientating new employees, in a timely manner, throughout its 150 nationwide chapters. Fusion’s solution was a blended learning approach, which consists of new employees first taking a training course online and then attending live sessions—which concentrate on skill development and group interaction. Fusion designed the online orientation to be self-paced and included interactive tools such as checklists, Web searches, visits to doctors, discussions with volunteers and participation on volunteer activities. The course combines materials from 77 different documents and AF website pages.
“We created this course to be reliable, easily updated, consistent, and with just-in-time content,” said Karin Albright, Director of Online Education, Fusion Productions. “Having this orientation online allows for staff to be trained immediately upon employment rather than waiting up to six months to journey to training,” added Albright.
“The program is a success! Over one third of our entire staff is registered,” remarks Rachel C. Wilson, Director, Learning, Professional Development, Arthritis Foundation. “It is the first online program offered by the Foundation and it has enabled us to provide consistent and up-to-date information to all of our staff across the country.”
