(July 2002)
Meeting Professionals International (MPI) and board chairman George Augel has appointed Jamie McDonough to its recently-formed Professional Development Strategy Group.
The group was created to help guide MPI in its delivery of its brand promise and to define the power of meetings to its membership and the industry at large.
The group will help to define objectives and long-term strategies for MPI’s two annual conference, the World Education Congress, and the Professional Education Conference.
The Professional Development Strategy Group’s initial environmental scan, conducted in conjunction with Fusion Productions, was responsible for MPI’s recent long-term focus on “business skills for life.” This new paradigm will form the underpinnings for the organization’s future educational efforts.
During his 16 years as Director of Training and Meeting Services for Fusion, McDonough has designed and produced numerous general sessions and other education-focused events for organizations like MPI, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Bausch & Lomb, ASTD and the Project Management Institute. He was also a key producer of the White House Conference on Travel and Tourism.
Prior to joining Fusion, McDonough was a faculty member in the Instructional Design and AV Communications program at the Rochester Institute of Technology. In addition to his role with MPI Professional Development Strategy Group, he is Director of Membership for the Western New York Chapter of MPI.
