(June 2003)
The National Association of Boards of Examiners of Long-Term Care Administrators (NAB) recently launched its first online supplement to the Long-Term Care Administrators Study Guide, which helps administrators prepare for the national licensing exam. "I am really excited about the program and have received positive feedback from reviewers," said Randy Lindner, NAB's Executive Director. "I am pleased with its professionalism and ease of use."
Designed to fully take advantage of the World Wide Web's vast resources and the medium's potential for interactive learning, the password-protected online version of the supplement replaces an older, more static CD-ROM version. Special features of the supplement include a customizable glossary application, links to useful sites, numerous Flash and Javascript exercises, and video scenarios that allow administrators to watch the unfolding of a potential problem they might encounter on the job, select from a number of courses of action, and then view the consequences of their selection.
Fusion's online solution captures individual test results and information about users, allowing NAB staff to better meet the future needs of the profession and formulate more focused marketing campaigns.
According to Karin Albright, Online Education Director, Fusion Productions, “Because NAB only needs to offer this one course and revise it when the exam itself is revised (every 5 years), we wanted to help NAB avoid the costs of a learning management system yet still allow tracking of students and test results. NAB's staff and subject matter experts were extremely professional and easy to work with.”
