Fusion Productions Successfully Launchs ACA's Learning Management System

(May 2003)

Faced with the ongoing, state-regulated continuing education demands, the American Counseling Association (ACA) turned to Fusion Productions to design a cost-effective online certification program. Continuing education has always been a major aspect of ACA’s mission. The association, which represents more than 50,000 professional counselors, was in need of an efficient, robust means of providing course material to members.

Fusion streamlined the certification process by customizing the courses for online delivery and selecting course topics that, based on member feedback, reflect the areas of interest and education needs of counseling professionals. Fusion’s expert instructional designers worked closely with ACA to organize course content into logical, time-sensitive segments and add interactive exercises that engage and retain the self-paced online learner.

Implementing a Fusion-hosted Learning Management System provides ACA the opportunity to track all course registrant data, retain a cohesive look and feel, and add features such as discussion boards and chat to courses. Fusion chose this system based on its ability to secure and maintain accurate participant records, thereby saving the ACA staff’s time and resources, and ultimately becoming the most cost-effective method of record upkeep.

“We were extremely pleased with the work completed by Fusion Productions on our behalf,” said Richard Yep, ACA Executive Director. “We believe that providing this type of learning platform for our members is one more way of meeting and exceeding their needs.”

According to Lisa Rubiner, Online Education Project Manager, Fusion Productions, “The enthusiasm of the ACA members to accept and embrace an online program was evidenced by 55 members registering for the first course, Grief Counseling, in just one week. ”
